And the 2013 SSN Global Scholar Awards go to…

It’s awards season for SSN too! Every two years SSN sponsors up to three scholars from newly developed or developing countries in the global south to attend the Surveillance Studies Summer Seminar at Queens University.

This year the successful applicants for the awards are:

  • Eric Agyei-Bekoe: Eric is from Ghana and is studying for a PhD at DeMontfort University in the UK. He’s investigating the privacy and data protection issues which arise when eGovernment is introduced in developing countries such as Ghana.
  • Fulgencio Lucas Seda: Fulgencio is from Mozambique and is studying for a PhD at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam.  He is researching borders and migration in post war Mozambique.
    Shashi Kant Prasad: Shashi is from India and is studying for a PhD at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He’s investigating workplace surveillance in the Business Process Outsourcing industry in India.
